A look into the book

These two maps show Schoepflin’s adopted home town Strasbourg. The one at the top shows the city as it was under German rule, the second one shows the city under French rule at the time Schoepflin lived there. It is especially evident that there was a substantial expansion of the city’s fortifications.

Here, Schoepflin presents artefacts of the medieval history of Alsace. He had an extraordinary collection himself, which became the basis of the collection of the Archaeological Museum of Strasbourg.
