04 Dec A Glance Into the “Ada Gospels”
The treasury of the Stadtbibliothek Trier is exhibiting until 22 December 2019 one of the most precious manuscripts from the court scriptorium of Charlemagne: the famous “Ada Gospels”.
Bibliophiles shouldn’t miss out on this rare opportunity!
The codex contains the text of the four Gospels written entirely in gold, gorgeous illustrations of the Evangelists and illustrated initials of the highest standard.
On the suggestion of the Minister-President of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate, Marie-Luise Dreyer, the Stadtbibliothek has submitted an application for the inclusion of the “Ada Gospels and other manuscripts from the court scriptorium of Charlemagne” to the UNESCO Memory of the World list.
In the meeting of 18 September 2019, UNESCO’s German Nomination Committee recommended that the application be forwarded to the International Committee in Paris.
